Extraordinary young musicians come from all over the world to to compete for prestigious prizes, performance opportunities, and the chance to follow in the footsteps of former winners who have gone on to major solo careers.

The Irving M. Klein International String Competition has achieved recognition as the leading competition of its kind, and has helped to launch the careers of such artists as Alyssa Park, Wendy Warner, Mark Kosower, Jennifer Koh, and Francois Salque. Mr. Klein, who died in 1984, devoted himself untiringly to the development of young artists. He was extraordinarily sensitive to their human as well as musical needs.
